With us, it's personal

Since Sightline’s inception in Sydney in 2010, we set out to create an event production management business superior to any we knew before.

We had a vision for a business we could be justifiably proud of – a business that our

clients could have absolute faith in where we’d be doing work we were proud of, which consistently delighted our clients and their audiences.

We already had decades of combined experience and a wealth of existing technical knowledge under our belts,

hundreds of events and thousands upon thousands of travel kilometres later; we’ve succeeded in building a business we’re proud of, validated many of our convictions, and learned a few lessons along the way.


Our belief has always been that even the very best audio-visual equipment available is little more than ‘stuff’ without the right people having been involved in its use and the planning thereof.

In line with that philosophy, we’ve carefully built Sightline around a team of talented and dedicated event professionals who genuinely care about our clients and the events we deliver.

We believe our collaborative spirit has contributed to the relationships we’ve built with our long-term clients.

We, after all, are invested in the success of your event and, as is often said, ‘You’re only as good as your last show.’

Technology has an important role


When we first opened for business we had very little in the way of ‘gear’, but our team all came from hands-on AV backgrounds. Our business was based around technical direction & production management.
Here’s what quickly became apparent…

Lesson 1


Without owning the equipment we were not able to own the responsibility. We wanted to be in control of the quality and costs to our clients. By investing in our own equipment, we could manage budgets more effectively, allowing us to offer greater value and flexibility to our loyal customer base.

Lesson 2


Lesson two was that other providers of equipment couldn’t always be relied upon to provide gear that wasn’t nearing the end of its functional life or had been maintained to the standard we considered acceptable.


Allowing for the factors mentioned above, we started a very strategic purchasing program.

We focused first on the control equipment components — consoles, video switchers, show computers and the like, then built out our complete audio-visual equipment hire inventory from there.

It hasn’t been a cheap exercise, but we now have an enviable fleet of top-line equipment. The huge benefit to us, and to our clients, is the peace of mind that comes from knowing every item’s purchase date, its operational lifespan and its maintenance and service history.


Size is important


In terms of our growth, we’ve always felt that there’s a definite sweet spot, where the size of our business is concerned. If we were too small, we wouldn’t be able to cope with larger events and, conversely, if we were too big it would be too difficult to keep the level of quality control our reputation has been built on.

 

We are now right where we want to be

 

We’re certainly big enough to handle any sized event, from a small meeting all the way through to a conference or special event for thousands of delegates. We’re still small enough that you’ll always be dealing directly with a Technical Director who’ll stay with you every step of the way, from the first whisper of an event until well after the applause has died down and the event is loaded out.


Sightline Productions acknowledges Traditional Owners of Country throughout Australia and recognises the continuing connection to lands, waters and communities. We pay respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders cultures; and to Elders past and  present.
